By the 25th of April, there are 46,009 tests taken, from which 810 were positive of Covid-19. Considering that the population of Cyprus is about 890,000 people, this means that 5.2% of the population have been tested, in which the positive cases were 1.8%. This does not mean however that the 1.8% can be generalized to the total population, as most of the tests have been conducted to suspects.
A clearer picture about the exposure to the total population will be visible when the tests on 20,000 employees will be concluded in the next 3-4 days.
Regarding the daily updates, I would like to concentrate on the total last 3 days chart displayed below. It is interesting to see how the pandemic days can be split into periods.
Periods 1 & 7: The start and the end of the Covid-19 with 0-5 total cases of 3 days
Periods 2 & 6: About 18-33 total cases of 3 days (~ 6-11 daily cases). This period lasted about 10 days on the upward trend (period2). We are currently on this phase, in period 6 which is taking place for 7 days up to now.
Period 3 & 5: This was the period with about 68-90 total cases of 3 days (~ 23-30 daily cases). It lasted 3 days on the upward trend (period 3) and about 10 days on the downward trend.
Period 4: This was the peak of the Covid-19 in Cyprus. It took place on the end March – beginning April for just a couple of days. It was in the range of 120-140 total cases of 3 days (~40-45 daily cases).

Hopefully Cyprus will not return to periods with higher total cases (i.e. period 5) but it would be interesting to see for how long period 6 will last. This will depend on the many factors, including the changes in the restriction measures expected in May and the number of tests that will be conducted.
